"When my wife and I first started to look into the possibility of adding a balcony to our house, we had a vague idea of what we wanted, but no inkling on how to achieve it, or indeed the detail of what we wanted.

Looking at our neighbours properties, we had some basic thoughts and decided upon a modern glass and Stainless Steel construction. Other than that, we were a bit lost. But, with a basic idea in mind we contacted a few local businesses in that industry, one of which was Devon Stainless.

We became aware that the scale of the job we were undertaking was far from small and indeed some companies declined the work due to the scale and complexity. But it quickly became clear that Devon Stainless could not only achieve the scope of what we were seeking, but could also guide us along the journey to completion, and all at a competitive price.

Their advice from day one was invaluable. From initial design, materials and aesthetic choices they helped us choose what was right for us, giving us visibility of variances in cost, so we could make the right choices. In addition, they were able to put us in contact with a reputable Architect and Planning Expert, who took away a lot of the early pressure regarding the local planning authority. This enabled the plans to be signed off as quickly as possible, meaning the realisation of the project came quickly.

Once planning had been agreed and designs finalised by us, construction soon began. In stifling heat in the Summer of 2022, our balcony began to take shape. The team who constructed it were fantastic, only requiring the odd cup of tea and a steady supply of ice creams! (It was REALLY hot). At all stages we were kept up to date by the crew on site, as well as Shelley and her team back at the office. Any concerns we had were quickly addressed, although they were few and far between.

At one point we threw a curve ball into the construction, when it became clear we needed to make some changes to the design to protect ours and our neighbours’ privacy. After a conversation with Devon Stainless, they took it in their stride and altered the plans. We always felt part of the construction through the 2 way communication and willingness of Devon Stainless to keep us in the loop and most importantly, listening to us, as their customers.

The balcony we built with Devon Stainless, has a real WOW factor and is something we are proud to show off and experience with visitors. Over the past two years, it has opened up a whole new way of enjoying our home and will continue to do so for many years to come."
